Sabrina Short is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NOLAvate Black, the New Orleans Black Tech Collective. She is a life-long community organizer, social justice advocate and has a proven track record of creating spaces to lift up the voices of underserved and disenfranchised communities.

As a tech ecosystem builder, she maps accessible and equitable pathways in tech. She has been recognized nationally for her work of making an impact in the technology sector as a multi-year Ada Lovelace Award nominee, 2020 Silicon Bayou 100 Honoree, Tech2Empower Alumni, and Grace Hopper Gold Scholar Recipient. Spearheading the inaugural Black Tech NOLA in July 2018, the first and largest Black Tech conference in New Orleans, NOLAvate Black has reached over 2,000 Black professionals through programming that focuses on building a sustainable and inclusive tech talent pipeline.

A motivational speaker, published author, community advocate and start-up founder Sabrina says, “I have a personal mission and purpose to bring Black and Brown people together to build collective power. NOLAvate Black isn’t just about diversity. We are breaking down racist barriers and systems of inequity by equipping our people with tools to leverage their resources, close the racial wealth gap, and create pathways toward economic opportunity.”

Sabrina serves on the board of Rooted School New Orleans and is a member of the New Orleans Digital Alliance.
