Sherri is an economic developer focusing on creative industry public policy. She presently serves as a consultant with Boston Consulting Group for their international clients interested in developing their entertainment economies and with Sound Diplomacy for domestic music strategies.
McConnell recently served as Assistant to the Secretary for Special Projects & Public Policy at Louisiana Economic Development, where she developed policy that treats creative industry true economic development. Her recent efforts to craft new laws that prioritize content creators in film, music and gaming and their intellectual property value stream are the first in the country and have caused economic development organizations to look beyond culture as just an amenity and design strategies for creative industry development.
Prior to that, Sherri headed LED’s Office of Entertainment Industry Development which administers the tax incentive programs for Film, Music, Digital Media and Live Performance. She is a founding member of the New Orleans Music Economy Initiative (NOME), has served as Chairman of the La Cultural Economy Foundation and is a proud recipient of the Sweet Arts Award for her contributions to the New Orleans arts community.
