An independent singer-songwriter, musician, and producer living in Los Angeles, Ainjel Emme has released two self-produced studio albums, multiple collaborative projects, and is currently working on her third LP, Exit Starlight.
A lifelong home-recording enthusiast, Ainjel began apprenticing as an assistant engineer in 2011 at Threshold Sound and Vision in Santa Monica, where she was a staff songwriter, runner, and tape transfer assistant (notable projects include the 40th anniversary re-release of Love Gun by KISS and Dio’s concert DVD Live In London: Hammersmith Apollo). She landed a job in the studios at Interscope / Geffen / A&M in 2012. In 2015, she co-founded the multimedia production house Block of Joy and now mostly operates out of her private studio in East Hollywood.
Over the past few years, AE has been making a name for herself in the roughly 2% of professional female record producers actively working in music today. Her studio has become a destination for both local and international recording artists. She recently had the pleasure of being one of three handpicked engineers selected for the She Is The Music songwriting writing camp at Hollywood’s legendary Record Plant, hosted by Alicia Keys and Billboard (December 2019). She is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, programmer, music editor, and vocal producer with a genre-bending discography; most recently including records by The Mastersons, Nasty Cherry, Kills Birds, Yves Tumor, Overcoats, Tommy Genesis, Stephanie Poetri, Hazel English, Kills Birds, Alfa, The Mustangs of the West, and more.
